"Attuned with the Afflicted"
cast bronze 22"x10"x10
While attending SAIC in Chicago, I continued to work part time in a psychiatric hospital as an RN. It was during this time that the idea developed for, "Attuned with the Afflicted". It is a summation of my response to "the caregiver's role strain", along with the horrors of alcoholism, addiction, schizophrenia and bipolar disorders. In all of us I believe there is a chronic "thirsting for wholeness". This "thirst" for some is something that only a spiritual solution can remedy. This sculpture is about being "driven" by a hundred forms of fear,self-delusion and self-pity; along with the cacophony of discord that this creates.
